Oktavía Hrund Guðrúnar Jóns joins Quad9 as a Senior Advisor

Oktavía Hrund Guðrúnar Jóns joins Quad9 as a Senior Advisor having spent two decades at the intersection of digital security, privacy, accountability and human rights across countries, sectors, and cultures.

Oktavía most recently served as the COO and head of Incident Response at SecureIT, a full-suite compliance and security company. They have provided consultation services and conducted audits and assessments in security and privacy worldwide and is a recognized Senior Holistic Security Advisor.

They co-founded and managed the DDoS mitigating secure hosting platform VirtualRoad which provides DDoS protection to a variety of clients worldwide and designed and directed the SAFE initiative providing integrated security training, emergency assistance and incidence response to at-risk groups. In addition, they served as a Deputy Member of Parliament in their native Iceland from 2016 to 2021.

Oktavía has provided leadership of diverse, global, remote teams, including activists, programmers, content creators, program staff and managers, in both nonprofit, corporate and social impact driven for-profit contexts. They join Quad9 with a demonstrated track record of success in strategic visioning of designing, implementing, and evaluating high-impact growth and diversification plans for human rights and tech programming as well as organisations, large and small.

Oktavía has a Bachelor’s degree in Business and Communications (tech, languages & law) and a Master’s degree in International Development and International Communication. Oktavia was certified as a BSI ISO 27001 Lead Auditor in 2021 and serves as a member of the United Nations Internet Governance Forum Multi-stakeholder Advisory Group.
